A Few Tips For Anyone Looking To Buy A Pup

When looking to buy a pup – GSD in this instance, however I am sure you can use a similar framework.

Ensure that the breeder is happy to send you copies of the following

Parents Hip & Elbow Scores

Sires PD results

Parents DM test results

Parents DNA profiles

Parents Haemophilia results

Parents HUU results

Parents MDR1 results

Inbreed co-efficient of the pup

Inbreed co-efficient of the parents & grandparents

Ensure that when you visit, you are able to get in among the parents at play

Ensure that you are happy with the nature of the parents, the puppy itself, and the environment in which the dogs live…..if you are not walk away.

Ensure that your pup is vet checked and a document is provided, signed by the vet to detail what has been checked

Ensure that your pup has been wormed regularly and with what product and when

Ensure that your pup is micro chipped

Ensure that you have enough food to keep the pup on the same diet for at least the next 10 days

Ensure that you are provided with a receipt for your payment

Finally do not assume that the Kennel Club Registration means quality – it sadly does not.

Glebe Von Wood - Quality Breeders of German Shepherds

We breed from long & short coated, straight back, well natured, happy pets.

We ensure that all of our dogs are Hip Scored, Elbow Scored and DM Tested, parents are also checked for Haemophilia.

Our parents are quality GSD's that we urge you to come and meet - all of them.

We do not over-breed and we pride ourselves in the social interaction our dogs enjoy.

All pups produced by ourselves will not be effected by the genetic form of Degenerative Myopothy (DM).

When we look at a pairing of parents, we ensure that the Inbreed Co-efficient is suitably low to increase the gene pool and minimise where possible health problems.

To back this up we are now providing a DNA Profile for all of our parents, via by Animal Genetics.

This will allow you to check on the parentage of your puppy again by using Animal Genetics.

As you would expect, puppies leave here at 8 weeks old, with their

1st Vaccination & Health Check

Micro-chipped

Wormed from 3 weeks of age

Reared on quality Food, which will leave with your puppy to include

2 x 2kg Of Pero Duck & Sweet Potato Kibble and a 10 pack box of Tripe.

You will also take away with you all relevant paperwork to include:

5 Generation Pedigree

Kennel Club Certificate

Sales Contract

Health Check Sheet form our vets

Growth chart for the whole litter from 3 weeks of age

Puppy Information

We breed for health and temperament and not for colour.

We do not interbreed and we do not use interbred GSD's to produce pups from

We are happy to keep pups longer than 8 weeks in addition to having them sent to various countries as long as we have met the future owners and that you in turn have met ourselves and your intended pups parents.

Pups will usually leave at a weekend, on or just after they are 8 weeks old.

Any additional days after the first weekend being 8 weeks old, will be charged at £35.00 per 24hrs - the same as our boarding rate.

If you are someone who is only wanting the unusual colours, should we ever produce them, you will be charged more for them.

We will e mail out to everyone on our list as a matter of routine every few months, in order to keep our list up to date and accurate.

Please do not worry if you have changed your mind or have found a little bundle from elsewhere.

If you have not received an e mail from me after a few months, give me a nudge…..I’m not perfect.

Anyone that does not reply back to our e mail within the given time period stated in the e mail, we will remove your details from our list.

When pups are born we will post on our facebook page

We will not contact anyone directly for a week, to allow mum and pups time to relax and bond.

After a week we will again be in touch by e mail to see if you are still interested and arrange a first visit at around 4 weeks old

It is at this 4 week old stage, that if you are happy with everything that we ask for a £500 none refundable deposit.

We strongly encourage prospective new owners to come and meet ourselves and our dogs before any pups are born and will regularly post set days for these sessions again on our Facebook page.

All clients attending these sessions must have sent in a prospective new owner form.

For anyone that is thinking of having, has had or has a GSD, then this book is a real must.

Vivienne is the daughter of Captain, sister to Aida, Granddaughter to Stone & Rosie, great Granddaughter to Roma & Vito.

Vivienne is 4 th generation GVW GSD

Vivienne, named after Ms Westwood, certainly lives up to her name with total sleek, individuality, elegance and a true ‘dare’ to be herself.
Vivienne is bright as a button and with her calm, kind nature she is a firm favourite with everyone on the farm.

A dark sable short coat with the prettiest of eyes, a real gorgeous soul this one. I have very much loved finding her the right pairing to really bring out the very best in the lines that she carries. As always being one of Stone’s granddaughters, you simply cannot go wrong in having a dog like Vivienne in your life.

Boaz is the Grandson to Tiger, Boaz is 3rd generation GVW GSD.

Boaz came to us in July 2023 as a 4-year-old from a wonderful vet in Holland. He settled in as if he had always been here. Strong, responsive, loving.

Originally Tiger, my 2nd ever stud boy had mated to a female GSD from Holland and so the story began. When Boaz came up for re-homing the lady vet in Holland, who has one of our dogs from Athena & Captain’s 2023 litter, was insistent that Boaz came to me as she felt he would complement our breeding programme. I said we have enough boys….roll forward a few months and the lady had done all of his tests and asked when he could be collected!!!! I like directness. And so Boaz is a firm favourite here with the other dogs, the team and our visitors. He is very big, but well-proportioned just as his grandfather Tiger was.

Boaz brings back into the GVW GSD the fantastic nature of Tiger and the pups that he has produced. With being only 2 generations off from Tiger but with a fabulous mix of other
bloodlines, we really are privileged to have this boy with us. I am very excited to see him thrive here.

One day he will be looking for his forever home, maybe fully retired or maybe as a stud boy off site, if you know me well enough to reach our please do so.

Joy (ful), daughter of Captain & Raine, Granddaughter to Stone & Rosie, Ryder & Taylor from Gentlebears, Great Granddaughter to Weller & Sky, Vito & Roma.

Joy is 4th generation GVW GSD

Joy is a happy, clever, and a playful girl with a great temperament. She loves to play with other dogs and our staff. She is always the first dog awake in the morning and is
always ready to go out for walks and hikes. Joy is the perfect German Shepherd.

As Joy has matured, she has become powerful, loyal and still a little cheeky! She is of super solid construction and a chip off of the old block in terms of her width. An amazing fusion of pedigrees places Joy very clearly amongst our finest GSDs here at GVW.

One day Joy will be looking for her forever home, maybe fully retired, or maybe as a semi-retired girl off site, if you know me well enough to reach our please do so.

SiSi is the daughter of Jyfell @ Lytracaney (external mother bred by GVW) & T’Challa, Granddaughter to Sierra & Vito.

SiSi is 3rd generation GVW GSD

SiSi named after her grandmothers Sierra’s pet name. A very special girl for me in many ways. Sierra was the most wonderful of girls, being one of my 4 patriarch girls, Sooner, Hope, Sapphire & Sierra. These 4 girls would mix with any dog, raise any pup, oversee any situation, they were all calm, caring and fiercely loyal to me. Sierra had only 2 litters of 5 girls in each litter. Sadly, one of the girls from these litters was bred from by an external person and a legacy of extremely bad breeding took place simply to produce unique colours. This experience for me was the sole reason why I never lift restrictions to breed anymore.

SiSi is all I have of Sierra and so for me to continue such a special girls’ lines in a healthy, correct, and ethical way is important. SiSi is one of the rarest of colours you’ll find in the GSD, being Isabella, a unique fusion of ginger tones. This girl is power and on reflection should have been called Boadicea, she fears nothing and will give her whole self to keep your space safe for you. With this nature comes a fine balance. Once SiSi knows you she is ‘yours’ no compromise, no
judgement, no negotiation, she is simply all yours, however her space is your space, and she will guard it with ferocity. SiSi will not welcome strangers lightly but once she knows you, there are no bounds to her love and affection for you.

SiSi will have her 2nd litter and has already her pet home secured with a very special lady and her 3 male dogs…. SiSi will thrive and she will, of course, be spayed.

Short Coat Liver Sable GSD

OFA: Normal Elbows
DM: n/n

Fresh Bloodlines from Bellevue GSD in America.

A very impressive example of a short coat liver sable GSD
With Katelyn, his previous owner I know he has had an impressive show career, as well as producing some wonderful offspring. Merlot already came with an impressive health screening.

Merlot arrived with us late April 2023. Merlot grows more and more used to his environment daily. He is a hit with the ladies and in general he is a super chilled, happy boy. Lots of change for him to take on board and slowly but surely, we are all bonding and helping each other become familiar. Exercise and fuss are always the way forward and the odd bit of tripe!!!

We are very excited to look at some pairings with our girls, for me I am particularly excited about girls from Stone’s lines, I think the structure and presence will be simply beautiful.

Roll forward to January 2024 and Merlot actively comes for a fuss and a cuddle, he is a big powerful boy who sometimes plays a little rough with the girls in terms of trying to bulldoze them over…other than that he is a superstar.

Merlot may well have his semi-retirement home already sorted. I am very lucky to have people in my life who just love GSDs and offer the very best of loving homes for my wonderful dogs.

Margo is the daughter of Minx & Captain, Granddaughter to Stone & Rosie, Ryder & Zen. Great granddaughter to Tiger & Layla, Vito & Roma. Full sister to Noor, and half-sister to Queenie

Margo is 4th generation GVW.

Margo is simply gorgeous, a lovely dark silver sable long coated girl, with the prettiest of everything really. Margo is very youthful in her manner, she is playful, carefree, and happy to just fly around the fields chasing whatever and whoever there is to find fun with.

A fantastic specimen of a silver sable long coat GSD, Minx really did make some beautiful pups that I know many of us are very grateful for. Margo will hopefully produce some equally wonderful pups in time, but in the meantime, she will continue her merry way in life. As Margo has matured, she is without a doubt just a wonderful girl.

Fresh Bloodlines from Bellevue GSD in America

Father to GiGi, Gloria & Flora.

A brilliant example of a pure white, long coat GSD with really dark pigmentation, just how I like a white GSD to be.
Quattro has taken the UK in his stride and is a real favourite with the staff as he is cuddly and kind and so happy to be with you doing whatever just as long as he is with you, but never needy.

When guests visit, he can be aloof, he will weigh them up in his own time, never aggressive just wants to work things out for himself. Once he likes you that’s it, he will be your friend for always and ever.

Quattro has produced some of the most wonderful pups over the past few years and I hope will continue to do so. Externally he is a gem, super calm, lead control is great, re-call is perfect. He is happy to be around other dogs. He is however a fierce perimeter guarder, not a negative just a surprise as he is in all other ways a super chilled boy.

Quattro is now semi-retired and lives with Maggie and her 2 girls locally. He is adored by all 3 ladies… just how he likes it!
